Time again for Orlando Repertory Theatre's Writes of Spring contest, in which kids submit suggestions, and UCF's graduate students in theater for young audiences turn them into a play. The deadline is Oct. 30 (I know, that's very soon), so get out your pencils now and following the following instructions:
Writes of Spring is a unique writing contest designed to support literacy and promote creative expression in young people. It is a collaborative effort among the Orlando Repertory Theatre, the graduate students in the UCF Theatre for Young Audiences MFA Program, and the young people from the metro Orlando community. This year's topic is: If a ____ could talk, it would say____.
Written submissions are reviewed by a panel of UCF graduate students and developed into a play script. The resulting production is then presented in the spring as a one act play at Orlando Repertory Theatre for viewing by the young participants, teachers, families, and the community.
